Highlights from AERA 2026 in Los Angeles

Alongside their research presentations, the CE-IDEA team celebrated several exciting recognitions and activities at AERA 2026 in Los Angeles.

The team received the Outstanding Article in Systems Thinking in Education Award from AERA SIG 124: Systems Thinking in Education. The award was presented during the SIG business meeting, where Project PI Dr. Catherine Voulgarides and Co-PI Dr. Alex Aylward were in attendance.

In addition, Project PI Dr. Catherine Voulgarides was honored with the Review of Research Award, recognizing a review article of outstanding importance to education research. Dr. Voulgarides and Co-PI Dr. Alex Aylward attended the award luncheon.

Finally, Dr. Voulgarides held a book launch talk at the Harvard Education Press booth for her new book, Beyond Compliance: Reclaiming Agency in Special Education.
